UDL is a way of teaching students as a whole for the betterment of their future, but not as a one way works for all method. It is open and flexible to the needs of all the students in the classroom. One such method is to have meetings many times a year to discuss how the curriculum is taught and the effectiveness occurring (http://www.cast.org/teachingeverystudent/toolkits/tk_procedures.cfm?tk_id=21). UDL also requires the teacher to watch for any barriers to curriculum needs and adjust to find a way to use items such as textbooks.
I have never truly used or even learned about UDL before. This seems to be what all teachers should already know, but is hardly ever thought about. Students are not all the same and never will be; therefore educators must adjust to better the needs of all students in the classroom.
