Technology tools to address visual-spatial or motor control difficulties

There are multiple types of assistive technology for math.  For applications that help with visual-spatial or motor control difficulties, there is MathPad.  This application appears to be very useful.  It looks to show the information visually for the students to allow them to better understand the problems presented.  This should help students understand how to break down the problem into a more manageable problem.  I would definitely have liked this when I was in school.  I can see how this can be helpful for students learning new math skills.  If I taught math, I would definitely use this application.

  1. Liz, I found MathPad to be such a cool application. It really does help break down problems for not only students with visual-spatial or motor control difficulties but general education students who are visual learners. I hope to one day use it in my classroom!

  2. Liz,

I agree that the MathPad application would be very beneficial for those students who need visual representation for math concepts. I have difficulty with the area of math and would have greatly benefited from this application while in high school.

  3. Liz,

Seems like MathPad is a popular app! When my son gets old enough to have to do more complex problems, I will keep it in mind. I doubt I will use it in my classroom as I teach social studies. Still it is great to know what is out there!

  4. Hi Liz,
Like Gabriela, I too teach social studies. If I did teach math, I would certainly use your suggested application "MathPad." It looks like a great app that would help with different problems. Thanks!
